How the two lines work together

NPTCCD holds the national mandate — policy, guidelines, anti-TB drugs and the reference laboratory — under DDG (Public Health Services) I. Inward and tertiary care sits with the National Hospital for Respiratory Diseases under DDG (Medical Services) II. The Colombo and Gampaha district chest clinics report directly to NPTCCD; every other district chest clinic reports to its RDHS in the provincial setup while taking technical direction from the central unit.

  1. 01Policy, guidelines and treatment regimens are issued by NPTCCD under DDG (PHS) I.
  2. 02Anti-TB drugs are held at Central Drug Stores and distributed free of charge to clinics.
  3. 03The NTRL provides culture, DST and quality assurance for the whole laboratory network.
  4. 04District chest clinics notify, register and report treatment outcomes back to the central unit.
